multi-hyphenate
On the way to school this morning, I saw a banner outside a top girls' school that was declaring to the world that their girls were to become "multi-hyphenated" women.
It struck me that the more hyphenates one has, the more one will need to do to upkeep the hyphenate. Too many hyphenates... Hyperventilate?!
We are doing more and more what the world says we must—we are doing more and more to fill up the insecurity that resides within us—based on the world's terms. And it's taking our eyes away from who we are in Christ and what God wants us to do.
We can be multi-hyphenates but if we miss out the most important hyphenate—being a Child of God—I have only one thing to say (in CF fashion):
