two

Had an interesting dinner conversation with K about having a relationship. Since some quotes and the topic has been raised by people around me lately, I have to ask—is having the desire for a partner a call to partnership? And vice versa—would no desire for a partner, contentment being single—a call to lifelong singlehood? Is God's call for us based on our desires? Yet does He ignore our desires and feelings? Would we then have to go back to where our desires stem from, then? But how are we sure if our desires toward either end are godly, His will, and from Him?

I have no desire to enter into a relationship now, even though I cannot fully say I do not have desire for anyone. Yet I am very content with the friends, the brothers and sisters God has placed in my life to satisfy all my needs. Very blessed.

Even so, I do recognise the beauty of what two can do together, albeit the challenge that comes alongside it. And I recognise the spiritual beauty of the marriage covenant: Christ the ultimate bridegroom, with the Church as His bride... What perfect consummation! When couples shine together they shine twofold; and the parental roles that they reflect from God is yet another powerful incarnation of who our God is to the generations to come... It will be tough nonetheless, but what a beautiful journey, service and call that would be.

Maybe I am not ready, for I lack much. I'm quite sure not for now, at least. Hence I live to fight for what agape is to be in all my friendships.

And as for today, the LORD has been all too clear to me: Deny self for now.
As hard as it may get, I will be obedient.

Ah, that we all might be clear to know His heart, wise to discern His will—and steadfast in doing it.

always a beautiful sight. :)

Seems like the topic never left tonight's dinner conversation again! Argh. I have a strong premonition that a mini storm in a teacup is brewing. I'm bracing myself, I'm keeping focused, I'm praying. ObedienceLord, have mercy! With what is going on now I'm clear, and I'm sure. And I truly, deeply pray that agape is what we all, like-minded God-fearing, family-in-Christ move and live and grow in.
