leitmotif

On a more jolly school note, I am really enjoying hermeneutics and all its linguistical goodness. The Bible just gets more real each time I understand the God behind it and His infinite wisdom and care taken in ensuring His good message goes out even with human agency.

It's also really nice putting a definition to strangeness I've always felt in speaking, reading and understanding language. I've often felt this way when looking at a standalone word: If I stare at it for a couple of seconds with my mind blank, it becomes a squiggly shape that makes no sense at all. And there you have it — "words are arbitrary symbols that have meaning only in a context" (Osborne 2006, 83).
