little miracles

As we marveled and gurgled over her and her tininess, the cloth little A was swaddled in had "Little Miracle" prettily embossed on it.

There are at least 5 sisters that I can name off the top of my head now that are pregnant, and one of whom is SC, who just came out of a premature delivery scare. After 2 days of crazy contractions, doctors have miraculously detected the root of the problem. Baby has also miraculously decided to stay in. Yet on top of that scare, her being able to have a second child is biologically a miracle in itself. Another sister just had a miscarriage a couple of months ago, and now her baby is developing safely within her. Another little miracle.

"Little Miracle" is indeed a befitting description of each baby that comes to earth. Yet I wish that every newborn's parents would recognise the miracle of conception — how an egg and a sperm can eventually develop into flesh — a material completely non-existent in its initial form. And where does this zygote/embryo/baby/human's personality, character, mind — basically, life — come from?

Scientists have began to recreate cells that seem to take a life of its own. But to recreate soul — who can? Artificial intelligence will only remain thus. Artificial. There must be Someone behind all these. Not just the sustaining of human beings; even animals. The constancy of the universe from gravity to space to the order of nature. How can something come out of nothing just like that? Even evolution needs something to even begin the process...

As you breathe, the act in itself is a little miracle, if you'd just stop (not the breathing) to think about how it works. Look around today, and you may just discover the millions of little miracles around you today, and do consider what it means to you.

  1. Actually, a pre-zygote - the two gametes, are already considered as life and not "a material completely non-existent in its initial form". But yes, get your point. :)

  2. Hello!

The "material" I was referring to is that of flesh :) Maybe wasn't so clear on that in my sentence structure.

Thanks for commenting... Do let me know who you are! I won't feel judged :P
