Perhaps it's the easiest to overlook the fact that our family at home and our -in laws are also family in Christ (if believers; but if not — why not treat them as such to a certain extent and let them understand what it means?).

If what is at home is not what is reflected in the wider family, then once again we have set double standards for ourselves. Even so, knowing that we are fallen human beings means that it is hard to be consistent in this lifetime. But the onus is still on the individual to be compelled by the love of Christ to be sanctified/sanctify one another isn't it?

Lord have mercy.
